While it’s been a while since I’ve posted a recommended reading book, I have been keeping up with my goal. But, while I’ve liked the books I’ve stuck my nose in the past few weeks, none of them have really screamed, “Share Me!”
And as you know, I’m not going to share or recommend something unless I really love it.
But enough of my rambling. On to why I love this week’s book – “Your Road Map for Success” by the one and only John C. Maxwell!
First, planning isn’t my forte. Never has been. I’m more of a seat of the pants, where does this path go? kind of woman.
Which is great in many ways, but not so great if you’re trying to get some order into your life and finally figure out what you want to be when you grow up.
Second, my learning style is – give me a concrete example, then let me try it.
This book helps with both of those! It helps you define your goals (with nifty worksheets scattered throughout), helps you develop a plan to work toward those. And sprinkles in a healthy dose of examples.
My favorite chapter this time around has been Chapter 6: How Do I Handle the Detours. I’m also an “all or nothing” kind of person. So if I have one bad day as I work toward my goals, I tend to scrap the whole week. Or month. Or goal.
Also not a great way to meet your goals…
How about you? Do you have a favorite way to grow yourself personally? Videos, podcasts, books? Feel free to share them here or on our Facebook page. With my one book per week reading goal this year, I’m always on the lookout for new books to read!
