Over the past three years, personal development and I have become what my youngest used to call “BFFs.”
I read at least a book a week. I watch videos that I find interesting, helpful, or just plain inspiring. And of course, there are my monthly phone calls with the one and only, John C. Maxwell.
Now I’ve decided to start sharing some of my personal development favorites with you! In case you’re looking for more ways to grow personally, spiritually, or professionally.
This week it’s a video! I’ll admit, I’m not much of a video watcher. Especially if it’s a long video (and for me, long equals over five minutes). I’d rather read. But, I’m trying to branch out a bit.
This week’s video is by Jen Sincero, author of You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life (which I’m actually talking about next week).
In this video, she’s talking about our excuses and how to not only identify them, but how to blast past them. For the most part, what holds me back from jumping headfirst into following my dreams is fear – fear of failure and fear of being judged being the top two fears.
But as Jen says in the video, “Awareness is the first step toward freedom.”
I think I’ll leave the rest for you to discover by watching the video. And let me know what you think. What are you afraid of and what is holding you back. And most importantly, how are you overcoming it?
How about you? Do you have a favorite way to grow yourself personally? Videos, podcasts, books? Feel free to share them here or on our Facebook page. With my one book per week reading list, I’m always on the lookout for new books to read!
