I’ve kind of reached the end of my rope with myself. I think we all get there at some point, right?
We do great for a while, then our bad habits come back bigger and badder than they were before. My biggest, baddest addiction is junk food. Cookies, candy, potato chips, soda – I love them all and I’ve tried before to give them up.
Well, I’m doing it again. But this time, not for three weeks or a month. From now until Labor Day there will be no more cookies, candy, potato chips, or soda. (I’m hoping 8 weeks will be long enough to purge most of the junk from my body.) It’s not going to be easy, and I know myself. The first time I get tired, or stressed, or bored, I’m going to reach for a Coke and some Welch’s Fruit Snacks.
So I’m stacking the deck. How?
Well, I’ve discovered in the past that if I treat this period of time as a mini Lent (my Catholic roots are showing), then I will not fail. Lent is the only time I seem to be able to stick to my guns. It’s just one promise that I really don’t want to break. So the next 8 weeks are going to be Lent Part II for me.
To get ready for what will probably be a tough week, I’ve prepped two dinners, three lunches, and some high protein, low-carb snacks for the week.
I’m going to do my best to share how and what I’m doing too. As well as how it feels. I’m sure some of you may be struggling with the same thing and I hope I can help and inspire you through your own Junk Food Challenge.
Feel free to drop me a line or jump in yourself at any time during this period. Misery loves company and there’s strength in numbers! 🙂 You can find me on Facebook, too.
And always feel free to share your tips, your tricks, or just your journey. I love learning from others.
